Sorry, but the real news of the day wasn’t Joey Porter … at all.

“Just fine” mentality is why they haven’t won a playoff game in a decade
Asante Samuel is not a replacement for JPJ.
3 years – 72 million or so, with 68 million guaranteed. That is my only offer. 2 tags and whatever he is making this year. Let your dad go too bro.
Any chance of the STEELERS offering JPJ like 2 year $47 Million contract . With like $40 mil guaranteed just to get his “Back Healthy ” & him back on the field ASAP
Hes only gonna make $3 mil this year . & next years Franchise tag will be aprox $30 mil .
So give him $17 this year take him up to $20 mil & $30 mil for next year .
Since players HATE the Franchise Tag . Then work on a long term next off season .
I love Joey Porter Jr; love his dad. I was at his first game, 49ers blew us out 30-7 home opener 2023. End of 1st half, I can’t sit – go to grab food and a beer. I hear stadium cheering – Pickett throws a few passes and gets us close. (SF went into prevent; relax Pickett fans. He didn’t do a thing unless facing their prevent.) I turn & head back to my seats, when a solid looking man in a bucket hat w short hair dreads comes up the stairs, head down, looking really concerned. It was Porter, Sr. He was the only guy at Heinz, (it’s always gonna be Heinz), who didn’t care what our offense was doing. His son was on a D getting picked apart. I didn’t want to bug him, not for a pic, or autograph, as much I really wanted to. He was a father, feeling bad for his son. He stood, circled, wasn’t going to get food, or a drink, or go back to his seat – so I walked to him, put my head down, as his was down. As I got to him, he turned away, and I said, “I don’t wanna bug you, just want to congratulate you and your son.” I kept walking. He goes to bathroom. I tell my friends, “Damn, I don’t think he heard me.” They’re like, “What? You didn’t hear him? He said “Appreciate you.” So, yeah, I’m always gonna be a fan. Having said that, thanks ChatGPT for running numbers. Porter’s shutdown-TD reputation is real, 1 career coverage TD allowed in 3 season; 1417 straight coverage snaps without allowing a TD. Sauce Gardner had 3 TDs allowed on 199 targets in his first 3 seasons. But, his DPI total is higher than most elite CBs over the same span. 14 total DPI vs 11 for Surtain, 9 for McDuffie, & 7 for Gardner. Let’s give Sauce 3 more DPIs, and take 3 from Porter. Sauce could have played with 10 DPIs and 0 TDs in 3 years; and Porter could have 11 DPIs and 4 TDs. I want to know how many TD’s the team gave up after his DPI. But that’s not a thing. Til then, you double the DPI of Sauce, you better not allow TDs, bc you’re keeping the D on the field and allowing them to give them up on their stat sheets.
